At the age of four or five, the first comic character I identified with Donald Duck. He was humorous, easily agitated, and talked funny. My Dad could imitate him, and I had a little rubber statuette of him that I loved and played with.
Sadly, I lost that little rendition of him.
My older brother attempted to replace Donald by showing me some like replicas in the local Five & Dime, but none were like the one I loved. If I wasn't going to get to have one like the Donald I had had, I wanted no other.
Then, in the early 'aughts, while going through a resale shop with my wife, I found him! My Donald! I immediately purchased him, and now he sits on a shelf above my art desk with other figurines bought, found, or of my own creation.
Through the years, there were many other comic characters with which I identified, finally bringing me to creating several of my own.
So, which comic character(s) did you, or do you, identify with?
