Elaine Merk Binder dead: One of the last surviving stars of The Wizard of Oz dies at 94​

Elaine Merk Binder, who was one of the last surviving munchkins from the much-loved film The Wizard of Oz, has died at the age of 94, according to reports​

From what I just read, she played a child munchkin. I remember always thinking that some of the munchkins looked like children. Probably didn't have enough little people in the cast, or couldn't find enough of them.

I read where the casting crew were under the misconception that little people could not be athletic, so they chose children to do
the more physically active scenes for the energy needed.
