Wow! They are on sale this week at Safeway here 4/$5, that's about the cheapest I've seen them and they grow here.

The big Florida avocados here aren't anywhere nearly as tasty as the small Haas avocados.

I suppose the reason is that I never grew up eating them but two things that I've never gotten around to eating in my life are avocados and artichokes......maybe I'll break down and give them both a try one of these days.

Both are very mild in taste. Use a little salt.

Wow, that's so big I'm afraid it would spoil before I'd eat the whole thing. I've never seen one that large before!

I slice them in half, remove the pit and sprinkle sea salt on them and eat with a spoon....or make homemade guacamole for nachos.

I have a Haas tree in my back yard. There are 3 avocados ready to be picked. They're ready. YAY !!

This thread made me buy 3 Hass avocados yesterday for $1.29 a piece, cilantro, jalapenos and multi-grain tortilla chips. Already have red onion but I forgot LIMES for guacamole.

The avocados should be ripe enough tomorrow so I'll have to go get limes.
