I was giving my living room a 'deep' cleaning today, moving furniture, vacuuming, washing woodwork, dusting, etc. I was watching this show with Chris Hansen (To Catch A Predator) about this woman who shamelessly scammed many people out of large amounts of money, including her Godmother. She told them she had cancer and needed special treatments, she befriended men who she took advantage of to include taking out credit cards in their names and charging large amounts of money, etc., etc.

I saw a few episodes of this show and was telling my husband how I can't believe that some people could be so cold and heartless. That woman even started a Go Fund Me for money that was supposed to go to veterans. Here's the story and two short videos for anyone interested. https://crimewatchdaily.com/2016/11...er-scamming-hundreds-of-thousands-of-dollars/

Telling people that you are dying of cancer, so that you may receive monetary donations is nothing too. This is an old scam that still works today and will probably continue to do so for some time to come. Many people are just soft hearted and want to help those that are in need or who are in worse off shape than they are. It is just human nature for some people to help anyone who says that they are in need, unfortunately.

I am one of those dummies that still gives a few bucks to the old bearded, dirty guy wearing a fatigue jacket or coat and standing on a corner with a sign stating that he is an "out of work, disabled veteran in need of money for food either for himself or to feed his family." If the sign is true, then I have done a good thing and if it isn't, then I've been had.

I'm 71, and disabled. Plus I look "disabled". I'm so amazed at how generous and caring people are. When I'm putting groceries in my trunk, people come running across the parking lot to help me. Before I became disabled, I never thought people were as generous and caring as they are. It's everybody-muscle guys with tats, women, boys & girls. I can see how someone could use people's natural generosity to fleece people.
