women only pelvic organ prolapse

Do any of you know women that have had bladder/urethra prolapse? I've read that 5 out of 10 women in nursing homes have some type prolapse. Surgical repair does not usually work. I'm almost sure I have something happening to my bladder & am putting off going to doctor because afraid of what I'll find out. Just when I think old age can't get any worse something else threatens. Thanks.

My wife was diagnosed with a "prolapsed uterus" about 5 years ago. She had a "pessary" fitted, and so far, that seems to be taking care of the issue. Go to the doctor if you suspect such an issue, since if diagnosed in its early stages, there are several alternatives to surgery. The longer you wait, the more serious it can become.

Thank you for your encouragement & info! I am such a coward when it comes to dr's but I'm working on it.
