a person who rejects consumerism and seeks to help the environment by reducing waste, especially by retrieving and using discarded food and other goods.

"There is a need for more freegans in our wasteful society."
 

I agree, Ruby, our planet needs all the help it can get.

Knowing how much perfectly edible food is discarded by grocers each day, I'm all for freeganism.
 
I could say I'm somewhat of a freegan as I like what it's about. My father was a bit of a freegan using a compost pile for future fertilizer for his prized tomato plants.
