Yes they are. My poor granny sent $10.00 a month to Oral Roberts for years and none of us could tell her otherwise. My mother said it gave her a little pleasure so let her do it. She lived with us and she loved him and her "soaps". She had to tell me all about them when I got home from school! Precious memories of her.

Yes, things are often not so black-and-white. Though we would advise others not to give money to grifters,
there are times to make exceptions and not badger someone else, about doing something that is meaningful for them, and in some way is helpful to themselves.
