Word of the Day: Horripilation

Horripilation: The bristling of the hair of the head or body due to fear, cold or excitement. Also known as "goosebumps".

I thought Halloween was over until I heard voices coming from the basement. A wave of horripilation swept over my body.....I knew I was alone in the house.....but was I?

I have never read or heard the word 'horripilation' used any where or in any context. I would have recognized as the same thing a sentence that read: "A wave of fright swept over my body...". There are many synonyms to horripilation when used in context that are more common. Some words, though by definition may be correct, may simply be out of place due to the rarity of their use. Good word topic, though.
