Petrichor: The pleasant smell after rain.

The petrichor was very welcome!

I wonder if wintry rains have the same petrichor, as the Spring and Summertime rains.

I feel I should know;
however, I'm not entirely sure.

Is there a scientist among us, who would know?

Or perhaps a meteorologist, who majored in.....petrichorology...????

Living in Perth, being as hot as it is, petrichor is an oft smelt aroma.

(Would petrichor be an odour or an aroma, is it a pleasant smell in anyone's opinion?)

I think here, we'd generally call it a scent, which is usually a pleasant smell.

Odor would be negative, usually.
Aroma leans toward a positive word, as you said,
though most all scents could be subjective in that what is pleasant to one person might not be to another.

Except for those types of odors in nature, that most anyone finds offensive, reminding me of protective measures by some plants and creatures.

The scent of rain-washed outdoor air is wonderful. So yes.
To answer your question, I used a lot of words, to say that I think everyone enjoys petrichor.

It seems to me that hot moist air, might not get the refreshing, wonderful scent.
