Word of the Day: Pilcrow

Pilcrow - the punctuation symbol that looks like a backwards capital P which indicates the point at which a new paragraph begins.

A proofreader knows a new paragraph begins with a pilcrow.

In the printed book, some line numbers were shifted to avoid collision with the pilcrow symbol at the beginning of each seven-line stanza.

Hmmm I didn't know there was a word for that. I've been writing books for nearly 30 years. I only found the symbol in my word processing program and figured out the meaning.
