Words and Phrases..

I’m pretty laid back and don’t normally care about stuff like that but I find a few modern sayings ridiculous, like the way people seem to start every sentence with the word “So”.....and saying, “You’ve got this”, “You’ve smashed it”, and “I’ve got your back”, (which is even used in the latest Scottish Widows advertisement) !

It seems even worse when older people say it, like they’re trying to ‘get down with the kids’, oops there’s another one :D
Maybe I’m just getting old....

This irritates the heck out of me and is used almost exclusively in the popular media..

for example..

' The event was attended by the likes of Paul McCartney , Judi Dench and Theresa May''...

Likes? Either it was them or it wasn't....

This was my first thought after reading the original post. :D Not much of an improvement over it's predicessor, "Like" ....

The phrase "I've got your back" has been around since I was a kid and probably long before that.
