World Ballet Day - February 7th

In her teens, my elder daughter was a very good ballet dancer and helped to teach at a local ballet class. She stopped dancing when she went to university, but retained her love of it. When she gets the chance she goes to see performances. Recently she saw a modern version of 'Carmen' but was not impressed by the sight of male dancers carrying machine guns. She definitely prefers classic ballet.

I admitted never having seen live ballet, but she said it really helped to understand the story so if I wanted to see one, pick a well known one. I might one day.

That's wonderful! Dancing ballet really is a beautiful art form. My youngest sister took ballet when she was 7-9 years old and she grew up walking elegantly and with poise. I even attempted it in my 20s, but it was more of a curiosity than anything else.

I never took ballet lessons but love the dance.
