Gaslighting (verb) - a form of emotional abuse where one person manipulates another to doubt their own perceptions, experiences, or understanding of reality. It's a way to gain power and control by making the victim question their sanity and judgment.

The term "gaslighting" originates from Patrick Hamilton's 1938 play "Gas Light", where a husband manipulates his wife into doubting her own sanity by dimming the gaslights in their home and insisting she's imagining it.
