Would you pay for enlightenment?

Knowing what I know now If I were not enlightened but wanted to be I would be driven to become enlightened at any cost if I thought enlightenment would come.

Of course we all know you can't buy enlightenment. 🙏

Thinking about this, I realized there is more than one interpretation of "enlightened".

If we interpret the term as "becoming lighter", then we can truthfully say that many people pay to become enlightened through any one of the myriad weight loss programs, and with varying degrees of success.

I am currently bored, sitting in a waiting room at the Mayo Clinic waiting for my wife to finish an MRI scan. So take my response with a grain of salt. 😀

Please excuse my morbid sense of humor but MRI's enlighten our sense of awareness as to possible health concerns. So your wife might be enlightened because of MRI, however you may have missed the boat.

Not sure what to make of this so I will just leave it alone. Nothing more for me in this thread.

Wishing the best for your wife and you.
That must be a tough wait. 🤗

Thank you. I suppose that is what baffled me about the other response that marked as sad. We are at the Mayo Clinic. People go there when normal facilities can't provide the necessary care. Thanks for recognizing that. Not everybody is enlightened to the point of recognizing what you clearly understood. You helped make my day.

Dear Tony, please accept my apologies, I am deeply sorry for you and your wife going through this time in your life. It is wonderful you are there for each other.

Best

You’re very welcome.
You know Tony, I have to constantly remind myself that I’m on a seniors forum. When we age our body and mind aren’t what they used to be. We never really know what others are going through or where their heads at. Some days are probably harder to not take things personally. At least it is for me.

Please let us know how she’s doing.

Enlightenment is ( imo) my awareness that nobody can make choices for me, after considering all others opinions and prejudices, religions etc, I don't have to take their beliefs for my self, especially when it involves advertising and marketing gurus bombarding me with commercial info' that I neither want, need or heed, just sayin' !

You feel you are “enlightened?” … to what extent are you enlightened? As far as I am aware a person can be only partially or momentarily enlightened but not complete or permanent. It’s the same as the question you asked recently about “perfection.” Neither are attainable for the ordinary person. Most some can achieve is a state of inner understanding. You cannot pay for enlightenment...

Namaste

I think we all pay with the most valuable thing we have, our lives. When we die we will all become enlightened to some extent. I was just watching a video about parallel dimensions so that may have influenced my response to this question. :)
