Wow. Stomach virus! Ugh.

Driving home from work around 3.30 Wednesday I started to get just slightly nauseous. No big deal, sometimes that happens. But by the time I got home I felt awful, like really really nauseous, the kind of nausea I haven’t experienced since my pregnancy days.

I told Ron I had to go lie down and he was on his own for dinner. By 5.00 I’d gone to the bathroom several times, my stomach hurt really badly, my head was pounding, muscle aches, and I had chills so bad I could barely hold the thermometer between my lips. No fever.

A short time later I barely made it to the bathroom before I vomited violently. My stomach was hurting really badly but when I took some Tylenol I just brought it right back up. From that point till the early hours of the morning I was in an out of the bathroom numerous times. At one point I had a bucket on the floor in front of me to vomit in while I was on the toilet, it was that bad. Muscles screaming, head pounding, severe chills. Still no fever.

Around 300 or 4.00am I finally fell into a fitful sleep and slept till around 10.00. I spent the day in bed, still running to the bathroom from time to time but thankfully no more vomiting though I retched a few times and thought I was going to.

All I ate yesterday was a slice of toast, a scrambled egg and a few bites of rice. This morning I have no symptoms other than feeling kind of weak, I’m sure just because of no food.

When I called my doc she said it was likely novo virus which caused gastroenteritis. Novo virus had been on the rise before Covid, declined a bunch when we all isolated and is rising sharply now that we’re all getting social again.

I never get sick. I hardly even get a cold. This was awful 😣 and I’m just praying I haven’t given it to Ron. I stayed in the guest room but still. I have no idea where I picked it up.

As I got older, I started getting those unaccounted for vomiting situations. I don't know what causes them. But I was surprised by it, because it was unusual. They never seem to go more than 24 hours, and they only happen once, maybe twice a year.

How awful....glad you're feeling better. It seems to be spread by touch rather than breathed in. It's impossible to be always washing your hands, so it's difficult to avoid.

Yeah who knows where I picked it up. Once I realized I was actually sick with something, I Lysol’d everything here that I thought I might have touched, hopeful that I was killing any germs so Ron wouldn’t get it.

That is sad Ronni, I am glad that you are over it,
I had similar early in the Month without the being
sick bit, thank goodness, I hope that you stay healthy
and that you didn't give it to Ron.

Mike.

I had some kind of stomach or intestinal issues earlier this week accompanied with a slight fever and diarrhea. It was fairly mild, though, and I'm pretty much over it. I wonder if it's something going around.

Oh I'm so sorry. I'm glad it's passed. It sounds like it lasted longer than the one I had about 2-3 months ago.

About 15 years ago I had a flu that lasted 45 hours. I'd never felt so bad. I could hardly get out of bed to give my diabetic kitty her insulin. Everything bothered me. Lights, the TV. I thought I'd never get better. Then over about an hour, I just started feeling better. Still wiped out but human. I have no idea what flu that was. Strangely it didn't run through work. Only a few of us got it.

A friend recently had those same symptoms. Turned out to be Covid. She was sick as a dog for 5 days.

I hope you feel better soon, @Ronni and that Ron avoids getting ill.

Yikes, @Ronni so sorry to see this. So glad you're on the mend! I don't think I could take what you experienced.

Hope Ron is okay...

I worried it might be Covid but I took two separate tests and both were negative, and my doc said that novo virus is on the rise and it sounded like I had a classic case, so I’m glad it wasn’t Covid!

"It passed." Interesting choice of words. 😂

Again and again and again , if it is food poisoning/ bad food.

Very common in the usa, more common than vid is, although doctors get more money if they call it vid.
