Scam artists move seniors out of their homes by court order stating they are incompetent to live alone. Then scammers auction off their homes and steal their assets.
 

There are incidences where that scam artist is a family member.

There's a whole slew of laws that protect seniors from being falsely deemed incompetent. The problem is, by the time a senior is experiencing marginal mental decline it might be too late for them to help themselves by calling Adult Protection Services or a legal advisor for help.

Everyone should at least start thinking about officially appointing a trusted person to be their legal watchdog, and a back-up person as well, but not many do.
 
There is a reason we need capital punishment. After a few of these people are taken down permanently, maybe monkey see, monkey do people will think twice.

It was called "I Care a Lot" and hubby and I watched it last night. I couldn't believe what she got away with and think most of it is just about a movie and only some of things could happen in real life. Other parts of it sounded a bit much but we both enjoyed the movie and the ending.
