Wrapping Christmas presents nicely

Our garage gets full of all the packaging of Amazon items. But i have discovered a brilliant idea to avoid having to go to the tip.
Foist them onto present recipients! Just use them to put all the odd shapes gifts inside, easy to wrap and THEY have the problem. Ha ha!
As for giftwrapping anyway, I am pretty poor at it, my husband is very creative and has patience.
Are you good at making gifts look special?

Even easier: A base coat of spray paint to cover things up, then a spray of pretty color. Then you can hand paint Santa, etc. if it feels too cheap. :ROFLMAO:

I used to like to wrap presents and was careful with my wrapping. I don't give gifts anymore.

I'm all for re-using boxes!
I keep gift giving to an absolute minimum. Years ago I was stuck in that cycle of exchanging gifts with close friends, couples. Once you establish a precedent, you have to keep doing it!
So I took the bold step of telling them I I felt it best to give cards only for birthdays and Christmas. There was relief all round. Instead we just meet up for a meal out regularly, spending time together, no pressure on anyone.
Now we exchange presents only with very immediate family. I also cut back drastically on cards. Just closest family and friends, only immediate neighbours.

I use old Christmas cards for name tags. Use nice colourful ribbon. Opening a nicely wrapped gift seems more loving and memorable than a poorly wrapped gift. IMO

Do you remember buying gifts at a department store? The clerk would remove the price tag from the (shirt, socks, teacup, whatever); then wrap it in tissue and put it in a nice, new gift box. One of the many niceties that have mostly gone my the wayside in the name of "progress". Sigh!

Life was once civilised.

A relative long ago would wrap the lid and the bottom of those store gift boxes separately, put them together, and add ribbon, bows, and other decorations. This was all done in such a way that the recipient could open the box and remove the contents without tearing any paper or cutting any ribbon. The packages were gorgeous, and I suspect many were reused by the recipient for gifts given to others. :)

I give gift cards inserted in nice Christmas cards. I donate to several charities and they send the most beautiful Christmas cards . I received gift cards this year in Christmas cards also. So I have nothing to wrap.
