Written vs. Spoken word..

On Thursday evenings while preparing dinner, I listen to "Meet David Sedaris" on the radio. At other times I have listened to Garrison Keillor and in the past I loved hearing Alistair Cooke's "Letter from America". While I enjoyed listening to these programmes, I could never get the same enjoyment from reading their books. Do you find that some authors are best enjoyed listening to?

i think i would prefer to read the books TBH Capt..

but, a good few years back now, , i had the job of reading to an elderly gentleman who i cared for ....
at first, i did not fancy this.....but i actually enjoyed reading to him...and I actually got into it....
he had to tell me when the hour was up, as i got more intrigued .......LOL...
BTW ..it was the sherlock holmes Triology .....

I agree. And, the three people you mentioned have unique and appealing voices, which contribute to the value of what they're speaking about.
