I finally rented the room I have been looking to fill in my home. Lady is our age, has a yorkie and a jack russell. This means 5 dogs and one cat in this house, lol. But she was very nice, LOVED her dogs Emma and Andy and they all got along with the other dogs...except Sweetpea who is a grump. But, Sweetpea knows I am alpha here and will settle down eventually.

Man, I was sweating it not having a roomie after the other one moved out. All of us are on fixed incomes and rent here is atrocious so I got lucky with this gal!

Happy dance!!

Congrats! I thought for a while of going that road more for support/security than income but a compatible 'roomie' is too hard a treasure to find. Especially when you're as spikey as I get sometimes. :playful: I decided I was probably better off flying solo.

Yours sounds like a winner, hope it stays that way for you.:)

I, like Ceecee, am far too selfish to rent a room, but I don't need to, fortunately.
best of luck!

Lucky your council lets you have more than 2 pets
e have three dogs but have to apply for permit for 3rd dog each year with a signed agreement from three neighbours not objecting

I wish I didn't have to rent out rooms, but gotta.
I am retired from over 40 years of property management. But I never had to live with them under my own roof. However, since I am a pretty good judge of character due to my experience of managing properties for so long and in so many different locations...I know who will be a good fit and who won't. One guy wanted it and he turned me off immediately because he said "you have too many pets". That is like walking into someone's home and saying they have to many kids. I told him "sorry. You are not a good fit". He was a bit surprised but said no problem.
This gal showed up right after he did (I had an ad in Craigslist) and I took to her immediately.

In October...I will get my SSI. No more need of a roomie. It will be just me, hubby, BIL and SIL.
But having a roomie right now makes it much easier on us financially. And I have had extremely good luck with roomies these past 10 years. Had only a few rotten eggs, but they didn't last long. I am not shy when it comes to handing out a 30 day notice.
