Yesterday was Veterans Day and not a mention of it here!

Or maybe I missed it, but, whatever, I salute all us who served, and especially those who were wounded or who never made it home...

Hi Ralphy1...I thought Veterans Day was always on 11/11? Am I wrong about this?

Off by a day as it is early here, but, to the point, no mention of it here before, on, or after the date, and on that I might not be wrong...

Veteran's Day is next Tuesday... 5 days from today. Tuesday, November 11.
Have you been smoking . . something?? :)
:) :)

My, my, off by a week, got to stop putting gin in my genetically engineered orange juice...

When I was a kid, Veterans Day was kind of a big deal. We had a day off school and there were parades here and there. A lot of people went to the veterans section of the cemetery and laid wreaths. Today, not much going on. The banks and post offices are closed and the stores have sales.

I think it was called "Decoration Day" a long time ago.
Decoration Day is another name for what we usually call Memorial Day, and it was called that because this is the day that people would decorate the graves of soldiers lost in the wars. Then , it became a day when we put flowers on all of the graves, whether they were in the military or not, and the name became Memorial Day somewhere along the line.
Veteran's Day is to honor all veterans, both alive and dead; and not to decorate graves.
