You get all dressed up...

Where would you hate to discover you are being taken?

For a wedding or funeral, that's about it. Edit: I just read the second part of the OP's post. I usually skip that because I think it's a tag/signature line. I'll try to remember to start reading the whole thing.

Anyway, my answer is a theme park or anywhere I want to have fun, like Disneyland.

We went on a mystery train ride many years back. We were told to dress formal, but no tux or gowns were necessary. We ended up at a theater in New York to see a performance of “My Fair Lady.” For me, at least, the train ride was the best part of the evening. We had dinner onboard with all the many forks and spoons and I remember the dinner had several courses. It was amazing.

OMG, I just checked to see what shows are playing on Broadway and I see that “My Fair Lady” is coming back in January. I hope my wife doesn’t see that. She loved that show.

I once went with a boyfriend to a Halloween party dressed beautifully since it was a first date but he neglected to tell me it was a costume party. We were the ONLY ones not in costume. It was a party with all his friends and no one I knew. I was miserable all night. So I'd say a Halloween or costume party is the last place I'd want to get all dressed up for.
