So I'm sitting in my swivel chair watching "Outrageous Acts of Science". As I often do, I try to see myself within the big picture of the Universe. I start thinking "At this moment, I am traveling at 1000mph sitting on the surface of the Earth as it rotates while orbiting the Sun at 70,000mph, while the Sun itself is orbiting the galaxy at 458,000mph" and I look down at the coffee in my cup, and there's not a ripple. :coffee:

Outrageous Acts is one of many shows on the Science Channel that is well worth watching. I also like "Wonders of the Universe". These shows demonstrate how awesome the Universe is, and how little we really know about it...and what a minor part of the big picture we really are.

I've also gotten into the habit of flopping down in the recliner as Suppertime nears, and watching "How It's Made".

I love that show Don. I've often wondered how different things are made; from automatic transmissions to jelly beans.

It's very interesting to see all the steps that go into manufacturing some of our daily products. Sometimes I wonder how an engineer, or inventor thought some of this stuff up. I usually prefer to watch something on TV that teaches me something...rather than keeping up with the Kardashians. History, Discovery, Science, and Smithsonian channels probably account for the bulk of my TV time.,,,with a brief visit to the news and weather channels,

The human brain takes in 11 million bits of information every second but is aware of only 40...

Why?

Maybe our brains have a junk file, or an ignore button. I suppose that if we don't immediately recognize a bit of info as relative at the moment, we let it pass.

You have my stamp of approval. It may be wishful thinking, but I sense an up tick and improvement in that type of show. Haven't seen anyone looking for Atlantis or Noah's Ark in a while.

But the big question is......are we getting Frequent Flyer Miles for this???

Hey, Be happy with the First Class seating.

That's it. The info is all stored in the brain and can be recalled at any moment when it may be necessary for survival or whatever. It's there, just on the back burner sometimes.
