In the last 15 years,,our vacations have been spend chasing our son in his truck, while we are driving large RV & towing trailer load of ATVs.
As we don't carry a cell phone trips so do get a bit nerve racking.
Have lost count of how many flat tires we've had.
Son has learned to check his mirrors to see how far behind we are.
Most of our trips have been 'out west' to ride ATV trails.
A wonderful way to see animals, old gold mines, abandoned rail ways, mining towns.
Our trip last Summer was to Maine , no flat tires.
I wished we could have stopped at some of the small towns that we squeezed through.
As for Maine's ATV trails they were nonexistent, poorly marked or maintained.
On way home son pulled into steakhouse lot only to learn they were closed.
Getting back into traffic, we ended up in right lane, while son was in left & turning.
As we passed the intersection , saw Son bouncing & waving his arm.
Could only get on the thru way, thinking he would try to catch up with us.
Nope , while hubby stopped for gas I bought a map that got us all turned around,, wrong way.
Back on highway , stopped to read map.
State trooper came to learn our problem.
He wrote directions to get back where we lost son, who by that time headed towards home.
If our GPS had been working correctly we would have gotten home quicker.
Son had reached home about 3 a.m..
We pulled in the next morning .
