Your Worst Date Ever

Come on and share those memories that are still cringe-worthy even forty years later, even if they happened last year, feel free! The worst date ever for me was someone from online. Two helpful hints-if a woman doesn't reveal her weight or a man his height on a profile...something might be fishy.

We met for coffee. He was already seated when I arrived. We chatted for awhile. Pets came up, he was animated talking about his dog. I mentioned my cats. He mentioned he never did trust a cat, and resumed talking about his awesome pooch.
Strike one

The subject turned to music. He had never heard of the bands I liked. But his all time favorite musical group, one the embodied every genre. He couldn't even explain how brilliant they were...The Bee Gee's.
Strike two

Of course I turned the topic to books. He seemed a bit flustered. The way people who have never read a book after high school look, deer caught in the headlights and they have to grope for a book title. He said he enjoyed the Left Behind series ( I later found out it's a series on a Christian apocalypse)...it was time to go and he offered to walk me to my car. I'm 5'4, so that means he was barely 5 feet tall. I pity people who are height challenged and know it must be a rough life...
Strike three and I am out
...couldn't drive out of there fast enough.

My worst date ever was the first date I had after coming out of mourning. I was rather shaky about the whole thing as it was and I went out with what I can only refer to as a psycho. I will spare you the details but I ended up dumping a glass of ice tea in his lap, with full malice I will admit. It was almost my last date......I was about ready to join a convent after that.

My second date was with an admittedly nice guy whose 16-year-old daughter called him 19 times during our two-hour date (apparently she was not the least bit happy about him dating). As I considered I had already put my time in with a surly teenager of my own, I really wasn't interested in taking on his.

Wow Jujube, you were smart to never date the dude with the daughter again. 19 times? What hell a relationship with him would have been. Later I'll tell about my worst date, cause it was also the best date. It was my first date with my future husband. But I'm suppose to be packing right now (and I do have 2 suitcases on the bed), it's after 9 pm and he said he's getting me up and 3 a.m. and we'll leave at 4 a.m. for LA. So maybe I better get off here and pack. But I've heard they have, that there, internet down in Los Angeles so maybe tomorrow night I can tell about my worst date. It was in the summer of 1964.

My worst date was with a blind date. He was really short, I think he only reached my shoulder, but I was in my twenties and don't remember well. The height thing was a real problem that I just couldn't get past. He didn't seem too thrilled with me either. We should have been honest with each other about our height difference being too much to overcome but instead he decided to take me out for drinks. It was pretty much a misery for both of us. We never saw each other again and it created hard feelings between the family members who hooked us up.

I never agreed to go on a blind date again. Lesson learned.
