Israel has attacked Iran

Considering that Israel initially bombed Iran I think when Iran responded with lots of warning that should be considered even. No clue why Israel thinks it’s a good idea to continue. I really feel sorry for everyone in that part of the world.

Not exactly true, although a foreign consulate MAY be considered a country's sovereign property ... that is IF Israel even did it (maybe likely) ...

Iran launched drones and missiles towards Israel after vowing retaliation for a deadly strike on its consulate in the Syrian capital Damascus.

Israel has not said it carried out the consulate strike, but is widely believed to have been behind it.

It is the first time that Iran has attacked Israel directly.

Previously Israel and Iran had been engaged in a years-long shadow war - attacking each other's assets without admitting responsibility.

Those attacks have ratcheted up considerably during the current war in Gaza sparked by the Palestinian group Hamas's assault on nearby Israeli communities last October.

The two countries were allies until the 1979 Islamic revolution in Iran, which brought in a regime that has used opposing Israel as a key part of its ideology.

Iran does not recognize Israel's right to exist and seeks its eradication.

The country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has previously called Israel a "cancerous tumor" that "will undoubtedly be uprooted and destroyed".

Israel believes that Iran poses an existential threat as evidenced by Tehran's rhetoric, its build-up of proxy forces sworn to Israel's destruction, its funding and arming of Palestinian groups including Hamas and of the Lebanese Shia militant group Hezbollah, and what it believes is Iran's secret pursuit of nuclear weapons, though Iran denies seeking to build a nuclear bomb.

the old biblical story - [agreed Jewish] tells the story of the beginning of Islam and the fact that it would BE a fierce and fighting force BUT that the Jews where the chosen people of God and would prevail - perhaps partially that is what Israel or at least some of them are fighting for - their lives and existance and have been for many years of being alone in the desert and ignoring their God?

So a radical Islamic group had a revolution in Iran and overthrew the Shah of Iran in 1979.
At the same time, that empowered radical Islamic group called for the eradication of Israel.
AND the radical Islamic group in Iran has funded other radical Islamic groups throughout the region in hopes of accomplishing just that.
... So it's been Israel's fault ever since ??

some say the Jews should never have come back to the middle east and it was their own radical group that pushed it forward?? I think there are many many more Jews living around the globe who are not interested at all in living in Israel

Numbers 13:30

After the census (Numbers 1), Israel, organized into armies, traveled the rest of the distance to the border of the Promised Land. Scouts spied out the land, and the majority gave a negative report. However, Caleb's response was positive: “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it” (Numbers 13:30).

Both Caleb and Joshua knew that with God on their side, they would be victorious in the battle. These righteous men understood God's intent for the clearing of the land to be a cooperative effort between God and Israel. Both parties would fight, and God's side would prevail. Of course, it did not turn out that way. Israel refused to follow God's lead in going to war, and as a consequence they had to wander for 38 years.

To complicate matters, God has scattered the people of Israel all over the Western world according to His purposes. One of the results of this is that the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob may no longer even know who they really are ... and their conduct and attitudes reveal that many may not even care.

Jeremiah 3:1-5

Jeremiah wrote this over 400 years after Israel's rejection of God as King and about 840 years after making the covenant at Mount Sinai. Even though by the time of this writing God had divorced the "Great Harlot Israel", He still continued to have a fractious relationship with her in order to continue the outworking of His purpose and to fulfill His promises to Abraham, including all the end-time prophecies. In other words, He was not yet finished with Israel.

one of the first things that God was heard to say in the OT is [apart from some advice] I give you free will - as fathers do today to their own sons and daughters ? - some fight and others don't

The Suffering Servant is a term used to describe the figure in Isaiah 53 who suffers on behalf of others and brings salvation and blessing to the world. Christians believe this figure is a prophecy about Jesus Christ, the ideal and perfect Israel who fulfils God's mission in righteousness.

However, the prevailing rabbinic interpretation from 1000–1500 CE of Isaiah 53 ascribes the “servant” to the nation of Israel, who silently endured unimaginable suffering at the hands of its gentile oppressors. This came about because of the influence of Rashi — probably the most influential scholar in Jewish history – who pioneered the claim that the servant of Isaiah was Israel. He lived through a terrible time of Jewish persecution. Crusaders often targeted Jews both directly and as a source of income for their travels.

In traditional Jewish thought, the return to Israel is often associated with the Messianic era, a time of redemption and peace when the Messiah will arrive to fulfil God's promises to the Jewish people. Some interpretations suggest that Jews should only return to Israel in their entirety when the Messiah comes to establish this era. However, most Zionists are not religious, and so their concern is not with that but with a political goal, which was devised in the 19th century in America.

Zionism's method is an aggressive occupation of the country, the expulsion of the indigenous Arabs, and the building of a society based on the American model. Not only was the Balfour plan rejected by (Muslim, Christian and Jewish) Arabs living there but the support of the surrounding Arab nations was portrayed as an act of aggression rather than seeing the Zionist tactics as aggression. Evangelical Christians support Israel because they see it as a requirement for the return of Christ.

This seems to be a never ending story with a circle of attack and retaliation. And perhaps the Middle East or the Ukraine will become the start of WW3. We'll see.

This video is 40 minutes long but well worth your time if you want to totally know and understand the Who, What When Why and Where of Israel and Hamas...relating to current events. It's fascinating, easy to understand, and concise.
