I first heard this story when I was a child, probably in School,
it has always intrigued me, as to what caused these impressions,
left in the snow, in Devon, England on the night of 8th-9th of
February 1855.
There were no high speed, anything at that time, other than a
horse, at least in Devon there were no roads as we have known
all our lives, only tracks, some wide enough for a horse-drawn
cart, but mainly, only little paths for people to use.
So what left a trail of hoof-like marks in the snow, for 100 miles,
that was the length of the trail which was in an area of around
40 miles, the footprints were in straight lines and no obstacle
impeded their direction, they went up house walls and across
roofs, no river deviated the line.
This really is a conundrum, I could never get past the Occult, or
Paranormal, or a Ghost/Poltergeist, to me there is no other way,
to explain the distance and speed required to cover that route
and those distances, in the snow.
Below is a link to "Discovery Channel" link, that explains it much
better than my efforts.
