The Outside areas at Burghley house

I can hardly call them gardens because there really was no flora and fauna to speak about. However my dd who visited 2 years ago at a different time of the year said there was a lot of flowers in the wild garden when she was there, but overall the gardens are really made over to sculptures, and water sculptures dedicated to the Elizabethan love of Astrology..

the weather was overcast, cold and windy.. again not conducive to outdoor pictures, but I thought those of you who enjoyed the indoor pics might like to see what it looks like in the outside.. so here they are....

Above area are for private entrance only... the Family still live there...

I'm sure some of you would be interested in seeing inside the little souvenir shop... so I thought of that...
Sadly as always in these places everything is vastly over-priced..

The Restaurant which is is situated in the Orangery....

The lake is Huge but the public aren't allowed very near to it.. and only then at a small part of it, ...shame

Much of the grounds are made up of rustic Sculptures...

..and there's a big adventure playground or the children...

Elizabethans were obsessed with astrology so this Observation Dial is in the middle of the structured gardens...

That's it folks... sorry there was no flowers, but just too early in the year...
