Trigger Finger?

Anyone here have experience with trigger finger? Were you given steroid shots? Surgery? I have it in my ring finger of my left hand (and I'm left handed). I have an appointment scheduled in July with an orthopedic doctor.

I had almost all my fingers turn into trigger fingers. Not all at the same time. But I'd wake up with it and have to straighten it out. The thumb would hurt bad enough it woke me up. My doctor sent me to some kind of specialist. I never had treatment, it went away on it's own.

It would really bother me when I tried to knit. My fingers would lock holding the needles.

rarely, but it happens. Happens more so with the big toe on my left foot ... and at (middle of) night in bed
No idea what "triggers" it though. Just glad it doesn't happen often. Can be kinda painful/uncomfortable. Oh and I'm a lefty too.
Hope you get it sorted jalou65 !!! ... an appointment is a great start.

That's great that it resolved on its own. How long did that take? Did you ever see the specialist?

Yes, and I can't remember what he was. An endocrinologist maybe. He ran all kinds of tests on me. I had good work insurance at the time. Everything came out negative except I run a higher sed rate which can show inflammation.

How long it took, I don't remember. Months to a year. Not longer. I was super, super stressed at work. I'm always stressed. I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

But I had one finger start to trigger then another and another until almost all of them did. I think my regular doctor thought that was unusual to have so many.

In the military or at least the Marines, men that got trigger finger, the first step would be to give the finger a shot of cortisone. If that didn't cure it, they would go back to the infirmary and take other steps to relieve the symptoms. As many rounds as I have fired, I only ever had my trigger finger go 100% numb for almost 2 days. That was the day on the range, I decided to showoff a bit by firing almost 3000 rounds out of some new rifles we had just received. I fell in love with the M-249 for at least awhile. It's an older rifle now, but can still get the job done.

Years ago I had trigger finger first one right hand, second time
left hand, had surgery on both...then developed the condition
again on one hand and said the hell with any more surgeries, and it worked itself out after some time.....

I’ve had this in the last with a couple of fingers but it seems to have gotten better and I’m not really sure why. While I had it, it was somewhat annoying. It’s odd that it’s repaired itself but I’m relieved that it did. My partner has a trigger finger that isn’t healing.

I've had trigger finger in multiple fingers for years, also arthritis...the arthritis in thumbs gives me the worst pain...it never goes completely away.
