I think it is called a Parhelion, sometimes called a mock sun or sun dog. They appear when sunlight passes through a thin veil of ice, the ice acts as a prism, refracting the light. I once read that rainbows signify the end of rain, sundogs signify the expected arrival of rain.

It's the Moon, or another planet, it is too circular to be a sundog, post 1 that is.

There are such things as Binary Stars, (double sun), but of course not in our solar system.
