What would you like to grow in your garden?

The Gentle Gardener
Poet: Edgar A. Guest

I'd like to leave but daffodils to mark my little way,
To leave but tulips red and white behind me as I stray;
I'd like to pass away from earth and feel I'd left behind
But roses and forget-me-nots for all who come to find.

I'd like to sow the barren spots with all the flowers of earth,
To leave a path where those who come should find but gentle mirth;
And when at last I'm called upon to join the heavenly throng
I'd like to feel along my way I'd left no sign of wrong.

And yet the cares are many and the hours of toil are few;
There is not time enough on earth for all I'd like to do;
But, having lived and having toiled, I'd like the world to find
Some little touch of beauty that my soul had left behind.

I would love to find frog spawn in my yard and I would watch the tadpoles hatch and grow into frogs. I had delight quite a few years ago and I was very excited when I discovered the spawn. I rescued it and fed the taddies with boiled lettuce and kept their water clean. Well, clean-ish.

Then after a while, after several generations, they vanished as quickly as they had arrived.

I miss the sound of the frogs in the garden.

All healthy life sustaining plants. Spinach, Arugula, Zucchini, Asparagus, Radishes, Green onions, Carrots, Red Bell Peppers, Potatoes, Tomatoes, Squash, Cabbage, Thyme, and Dill for the Butterflies (they eat dill down to nothing, then make their chrysalis nearby and before too long I have butterflies.

I would be too. I'd love to have frogs in my garden along with snakes, lizards and even more variety of birds and butterflies and other beneficial insects than I already see.

So to answer the question I'm interested in growing a natural looking setting for my aesthetic pleasure and act as viable habitat for other critters.
