CBS's long running comedy,'The Big Bang Theory' is ending its 12 yr run on May 16th
When I read what the network was asking for a 30sec ad, anywhere between $1.2-$1.5 mill,I thought 'seriously, this isn't a sports event'
I guess the 'head honchos' want to rake in as much money as possible since they are losing their #1 comedy show
In the end,its all about the ratings

That show had me from the beginning. .. loved it all. I think it's the best regular network program on TV.
That said, this year it has seemed to peak w/o good storyline like in the past.
Jim Parsons said in a quote somewhere ... "all the meat has been taken off that bone".

But of course there will continue to be reruns for a long time... my nightly bedtime fix.

I agree, I loved this show and still do but not that great anymore.

They've just run out of steam like all the others have in the past. Had to happen.
Jim Parsons may be banking on Young Sheldon to take its place, but I don't see it.

I used to watch this show every week, the reruns on TBS,but it started to lose my interest after Season 8
I always felt the writers couldn't figure out what to do with 'Raj' give him a steady girlfriend or not
The show originally was going to end at Season 10, but network gave the stars more money to continue for 2 more yrs

Have you ever read how much the cast makes per episode? It's the ads that pay for it. They're all gazillionaires. And, of course, they get paid for all the reruns in some manner. And yes, as other posters mentioned, the show lost steam actually a couple of seasons back. Some of the cast members, especially Kaley, said she would only do the final seasons for a ridiculous amount of money --- she was tired of doing the show. But, she got her ridiculous paycheck and kept going.

I stopped watching Big Bang Theory when Chuck Lorre posted this a the end on an episode in October 2018:

God, (I call you that even though I suspect thou art well beyond names and words and might actually be some sort of ineffable quantum situation), I humbly beseech thee to make thy presence known on November 6th. Demonstrate your omnipotence through us as we make ink marks on little circles in curtained booths. Of course if you, in your divine wisdom, believe a fascist, hate-filled, fear-mongering, demagogic, truth-shattering, autocratic golf cheater is what we need right now, then, you know, thy will be done. But if thou art inclined to more freedom, more love, more compassion, and just more of the good stuff thou hath been promoting in our hearts or our parietal lobes — either one, doesn’t really matter — I submissively ask that thy encourage voter turnout in that general direction...Amen.
Oh, almost forgot, remind those who collaborate with the darkness that thou art the light, and the light is not above whipping out a little Old Testament wrath. Amen again.
