The MD's did this debridement of my OA knee back in March 2017 after addressing a staph infection with abx IV's and I swear my knee is way worse since this debridement and IF ONLY they had not done it. Now I'm reading today about the controversy of this work.

If a surgeon is talking about this for you, think long and hard about doing it.

I was very lucky with my knee work. Got the debridement (arthroscopy) L knee 2005, no complicat, eventually got it replaced in 2010, healed well. After the 'scope, only had to keep weight off it 48 hrs or so.

I had a knee infection in late 2016, doctors didn't find it for 2.5 months, after MRI finally...xrays and bloodwork did NOT show it. After 2.5 months of abx IV's...MD's chose to do a debridement and I've been a mess ever since with the knee....if only they had NOT done the extra work..... these are MD's from teaching hospital here in So. Cal. I avoid that group like the plague now and do my best to keep walking...can't imagine doing a knee replacement, more trauma surgery to the body!!!!

I'm sure out of the thousands done, enough have good outcomes.....I won't take a chance.

I'm staying away from surgery for mine because of this, though I do know people who have done well with it.

Yes and No, read some of the post op TKR stories on bonesmart. When I want to shake myself up to what "could happen", I go over there and read some stories...
