I like braces on women... they were very fashionable in the 80's and I wore them.....when I was kid only old men wore them

Now 30 years on they're very fashionable amongst the young again...

Yes so I’ve been told. Braces are things we have for teeth where’ we live and those feminine under garments are called garter belts. At one time suspenders were very fashionable

I have worn them for several years now...I fine them much more comfortable than a cinched-up belt.

Particularly now that I have "lost" my waist.........:(

I still have a set of suspenders. I only wear them when I wear a certain set of clothing. When I was a little boy Mom made me wear them to school every day.l

I agree that suspenders ‘look’ better on trousers specifically made for them however I think for practical reason, like holding up trousers that are otherwise falling down, then the add on suspenders are practical.

I wore them daily for many years during my working life with a three piece suit. I always referred to them as braces. For me, "suspenders" are made of elastic and have metal gripper clips at the ends. Braces are made of fabric, usually silk, and attach to buttons sewn onto the inside (only!) of the waistband. I still have a half dozen or so sets and wear them a couple times a year with dress slacks.

I really like suspenders more than belts, but when I wear them, they chafe sensitive parts of my chest, so they're a no-go for me, unfortunately. The chest belts on car seat belts do the same, so I use a clip on them to give a bit of slack.

I hadn’t thought about them chafing sensitive areas. Perhaps this is why people chose their own clip on kind to use. That way they could position them so they sit more comfortably on the body.

Thank you for the clarification on different types.
The different names I’m understanding now.

Never have and 99% chance, never will. To me (my opinion), suspenders make a guy look too old. It's like when I see a guy wearing a bow tie instead of a regular tie. As little boys, many of us may have wore a bow tie, but as adult men...……..I sure wouldn't.

I've tried them all. The results are always the same, unfortunately.
