What Did You Accomplish Today?

Do you feel better if you've accomplished something each day? Or even one day a week maybe.

My husband likes to get things accomplished so he talks about what mowing he's done or trimming trees or repairing a boat motor or whatever. It's starting to rub off on me so sometimes I feel good about getting something extra done around here.

Today I took a cardboard box and put in 5 or 6 thick large wash cloths that I don't like using in the bottom of it. I prefer thin small wash cloths to wash my face or clean my ears with. I also pulled a king size blanket off our bed and washed and dried it and used that to fill the box. We'll say hello to that blanket next fall. I have the box sealed and labeled and it will go in one of my sheds for several months.

I also got really wild today and emptied out 2 shelves in my pantry of all the Tupperware and other plastic containers. I am going to condense them down onto one shelf and the rest will be boxed up and go into a shed till I find someone who needs them.

What did you accomplish today?

As usual I was up by 6.30 am, it is now 8.26am, I have had my daily ablutions, my daily walk, vacuumed the house, prepared the sauce for the pasta we are having for lunch, and set out my husband's medication for the coming week, not bad in only a couple of hours.

Well it's only mid morning, so I haven't done too much yet. Made brunch, ( cinamon & raisin toast & tea) emptied the trash and the waste baskets around the house .

I have to go a bit carefully cuz I put my back out last w/e it's getting better slowly so I'm doing things a little at a time at the moment...

yesterday I cleared out 2 boxes of paperwork , found bills in there dating back to 1999

Weather is a bit miserable, but still had to go and feed the pigs. Two of the new lambs (4a & 4b) are very friendly and follow us round everywhere. The ewes don't bother unless they think we've got food for them.
Going to finish a bit of joinery this afternoon.

Do you feel better if you've accomplished something each day?

Yes. Yes I do. I need to feel that sense of accomplishment, and the daily or routine stuff doesn't give me that. There's always stuff to do, my list is always way longer than the time I have to accomplish the tasks.

MY problem is giving myself a pat on the back and an "atta girl!" for the things I get done, as opposed to feeling frustrated when Iook at all the things I haven't crossed off the list yet!

Finished hauling and placing flagstone in flower bed paths. Next door neighbor has enough stone he doesn't want, to build a hut. Can't pass on free stone. I'm not sure I'll be able to stand up stright tomorrow.

I'm off to Best Buy this morning to have my laptop looked at. For some reason my T & Y keys I've given up the ghost. It used to be that I just had to tap them a couple times but now nothing. So I've been using my phone for all my computer business which is not been as easy as I would like it to be.

I have to accomplish daily goals to feel good about my life unless I've busted my butt in the trees the day before. Then, I don't mind staying in my pj's the next day, for the whole day. Truth is, though, even then, I start having regrets that I didn't do anything of substance that day.

I always have an ongoing list of things to do around the house and try to accomplish at least a few of them every weekend depending how big and involved they are. I have both indoor and outdoor things on the list so if the weather is bad I can still do things inside. Yesterday I had the day off from work so I mowed the lawn front and back, raked up the old mulch in our garden beds in our back yard and put new mulch down. Today I've got to pick my wife up at the airport, then I'll do some more yard work when I get home, probably put some manure down in my veggie garden and maybe start hanging the new planters we bought for the deck.

It's still early morning for me, but I did manage to get my visiting granddaughter up and fed, and take the dog for his morning walk.
Baby steps. :)

I refuse to be a slave to the protestant work ethic.

I can accomplish absolutely nothing and still feel fine at the end of the day.

Yes, I often write down my accomplishments each day. So far I have accomplished taking the dog out and making my bed and washing the dishes, yay! LOL :)

to day i took my shower washed a load of clothes and vacumned the living room-as soon as the clothes are dry they will get folded-----running the vacumn just wears me out

It's still quite early today, but yesterday I traced a squeaky noise in my truck to a bad bearing on the belt tensioner pulley, bought a new pulley, and replaced it. It took a couple of hours....travel to/from store, etc., and cost me about $32. A shop would have probably charged me well over $100.

I showered and washed my hair, I don't shave any more, but trimmed a bit.. Filled the bird feeder and a squirrel came and ate every sunflower seed. This is after I worked for two hours Friday making it squirrel proof. I am looking on the internet to find a transformer that would give them a low voltage shock. Sweetie said,'' how would you like it if I did that to the refrigrator door.'' :yoda:

Apart from the aforementioned stuff this morning...since then, I've done a few domestic chores, prepared dinner, which is in the oven now... and also did some online shopping.

Bought a new watch, that'll be delivered tomorrow... :D

"Making it squirrel proof" can be a bit difficult. We live in a forest, and we have gobs of squirrels. A few years ago, I found a solution that is both effective and Entertaining. I mounted the bird feeder on a tree with a copper pipe that extends about 3 feet away from the tree. Then I coated the pipe with a liberal amount of Axle Grease. Now, the squirrels try to sneak across the pipe, and wind up getting their little paws full of grease, and usually fall off before they get to the feeder. It's kind of fun watching them plop to the ground, and trying to rub the grease off their paws. The weather and rain erodes the grease after a couple of months, but a few seconds with a q-tip quickly reapplies another coating, and the Fun starts again.

lol I will try the wheel bearing grease I have.. I was telling sweetie how we hunted and ate squirrels years ago and she said they are related to rats, but calls them her pet squirrels.

Don, I like the sound of your solution. We have the problem with red squirrels when at the cottage in Maine. They are ingenious at overcoming obstacles that we place in their way but yours sound like it might work. I'll give it a try when we get up there in a couple of weeks.

I stopped by my close friends,Marcia and Dave's for a brief visit.
We try to have our weekly 'catch up' on Sat mornings When I walked into the house, the family dog,Aker{he's a pharoh hound} jumped off the sofa and came over wagging his tail. After his breakfast,I took my 'buddy boy{my nickname for him} on his morning walk, around the block.
The weather here in WNY this past wk had been mostly cloudy with rain on/off so I couldn't take him on any of his afternoon walks
As I was about to leave, went over and gave him a hug,he licked my nose, made my day
I also did some shredding this afternoon Sue

Wow, you guys get a lot done! I have my sitting on the porch watching the neighborhood and reading days. Our cats and dogs love those days the best. I seldom feel guilty for my taking it easy days. I have a to do list every day but some days I have to put everything off. Tomorrow I have to get a birthday box ready to mail to my granddaughter. I can't put it off any longer as her BD was in late April. I do feel guilty about that.

I keep telling people not to feel guilty about having days where we do nothing at alll, Linda...but I'm the worlds' worst for beating myself up , when I don't get something done....but I'd like to be able to sit on your lovely big plot and just watch the world go by too, I know you enjoy that with your furkids...

BTW my watch came this morning.. delivery got us up at 8am when I'd booked the delivery time for between 10am and 1pm...to give my hubs a lie in today on his Birthday, so that didn't please him getting woken up on his only day off and his Birthday... :(

Anyway... we're going out later to celebrate...

It's only 9.30am, so I haven't done anything constructive yet..
