This image is a picture of a test pattern pasted over a picture of a television. In real life, If you remember, it was a time when the television went off the air at night and came back on at a certain time, early each morn. Before programming began for the day, the test pattern was broadcast. Not sure if it was for their benefit or the viewer's.

Please remember to Kill Your Television!

the patterns from the stations were actually a card to align the camera's which took time to warm up since they were tube as well.

TV techs also had this overlay in theirs shops. it was used to make ajustments for horizonantal and vertical sweep circuits. the indian head was adjusted round and not egg shaped or flattened.

We have a 42 inch flatscreen in the den and in the sitting room. We put a 32 in flatscreen in the guest room in the hopes the kids would come. Sadly they rarely visit. I turn it on just to be sure its still working when I clean. One thing I really enjoy is having a dvr to record those shows that come on after I fall asleep. Otherwise I'd never get to see any of the good tv shows. :D

I still have an old tube-style tv, bought back around 1999. Too frugal to get rid of it until it dies completely. However, I also have a panel type tv in my bedroom that I bought when flat panel tvs first came out (expensive for a 15 inch).
