I Need Friends

I have been a member here for many years, though
not as long as some of you, yet although I look on
all here as friends, I only have three or maybe four
"Official" friends.

Would you like to be an "Official" friend?

Please.

Mike.

Someone explain to me what official friends means? Why do we need friend requests? Can’t we be friends without a friend request? What’s the downside and/or benefits? Are there any? Silly old woman that I am, I found/find the friend request thing intimidating.

To me it's just a fun way to have someone you like as a friend, and their avatar shows on your profile page. Here's the how-tos.

The easiest way to become another member's "Friend", is to click on their "User Name" and go to their "Profile Page". You can find their User Name if they're online, at the bottom of the forum homepage, under "Current Active Users"...or, you can go to one of their posts and click on the User Name there, then click on "View Profile".

Once you're on their profile page, just click on the "Friends" tab, and then click the "Befriend" link. Or, you can just click on "Add As Friend" on their Profile Page.

You'll be notified of an incoming friend request through "Notifications", which is found at the top right of the forum page, next to your User Name. These requests can be either accepted or rejected.

Your friends will show on your profile page, check their Avatar to show Avatar when accepting the request. Your Avatar also shows on their Profile Page. Your friends will have a + sign next to their names at the bottom of the forum page, under Current Active Users.

Yes, we can be friends without friend requests. I don't bother with that stuff.

Thank you all for the positive result to my post.

I didn't accept immediately as it was night time
here.

I have accepted all of you now and I have a big
group of friends.

Thank you.

Mike.

Hi Mike,I enjoy reading your posts, your kindness when you sent me last yr on my birthday a Jacquie Lawson E Card
You can add me to your friend list Sue

Of course!! I agree! I have friends on here, who've been friends for many years, but they're not on my ''friends list''... doesn't make them any less of a friend than those who are. In fact I've still got people on my friends list who are no longer posting on this forum...
Me too!!

I'm like Mike. I guess I speak for a number of us. I think we are at the age when it is hard to make friends. I'm in a wheelchair/don't drive. I'm pretty much home bound, plus I live in the sticks. I see more deer than people. The friends that I used to have were largely work related, and since I retired, it's hard keeping up those friendships. You kind of drift away. You kind people are little family.

What do ''official friends'' on SF do? Are they like pen pals? I've never asked for a friend and have rejected a few requests even though I did like the requesters. I just figure if I want to message them I could and have done it a few times, but didn't have to do it regularly. I had a lot of penpals at one time (13) and simply got burned out and now only have one (16 years).
