Old folks special smell....

I think this may be true. I worked for years in a nursing home that was kept spotlessly clean yet there was an odor. I remember as a child the older members of my family had an odor also and I knew they were clean people. They wore clean clothes and washed.

I think about this often and hope I don't become one of the smelly ones. I shower daily and use deodorant and I love baby wipes to freshen up during the day. Back then I think people didn't shower on a daily basis or even use deodorant not because they were dirty but it wasn't the thing to do.

That was very interesting, Bonnie.

I wish I could relate. I had two grand mothers that lived into their nineties but I never noticed anything different. I only saw them twice a year for about week, so I wasn't used to it.

One grandmother was very old fashioned and cleaned with vinegar. I hated the smell of her house; old wood and vinegar. But she smelled fine, lol

My grandparents had their own pleasant, familiar smells. My grandpa smoked a pipe; I can close my eyes and smell that sweet tobacco smoke clinging to him. I still love the smell of pipe tobacco. My grandma was always in the kitchen and I could swear she dabbed a little vanilla extract behind her ears.

I have been around older people who smelled like they could use a good scrubbin', though.
