Topics of no interest .....

Although I think Senior Forums is a great site there are only a handful of topics that interest me, I check the new posts every day, reading those I enjoy, ignoring or scrolling through others, sometimes a title will catch my eye

Do you read every topic on the site, even if you have no interest in or know you will dislike the contents ?

I’m asking as I’ve noticed a couple of negative comments which in my view are unkind and pointless, who cares if a member dislikes a topic ? If you don’t like it, don’t read it, scroll on by, but at least respect the fact another member has gone to the trouble of contributing a new topic, that is after all, what keeps the site going

I read most of the threads.

In many cases, the responses to a thread interest me more than the topic in the initial post.

I also find myself composing many more responses than I actually post.

I agree that some posts are hurtful and add no value to a thread, I'm guilty of posting some of those comments.

I make an effort to edit/police myself but sometimes it's worth it!:):playful::eek:nthego:

I don’t mean discussions, obviously they’re inviting members opinions, which all seem to be respected, even if they differ from the original post, refreshing after some sites I’ve seen ! :D

I figure all the topics are of interest to someone, even if not to me. I don't have time to read everything and like recently, I haven't even been able to get on here at all. Sometimes just a lot going on or I need more naps than usual. Here it is almost 2 A.M. and I'm just getting on here to read.

I have to be honest, this site is basically a 'lightweight' site, I do prefer to discuss serious issues but they always seem to attract unpleasantness. I don't know why there are some people in this world who enjoy being nasty. I suspect they are unable to bully others in the real world but they can get away with it on the internet.

To get back to the question, I skip over most of the topics on here, as they are rather trivial. I only join in when there is something of real interest to me. It is interesting to get other people's 'take' on things, and always reassuring to know that there are others who have the same concerns as yourself.

mostly I read the ones that interest.I do read some other threads I really can't post to since I don't have whatever the topic is
e.g. 'what is your favorite car' since I don't drive ,never felt comfortable behind the wheel

What you should do is start a topic of your own interest. You will be surprised at how many others will reply.

I’m a wordy cuss
And I usually post daily, if not hourly when I’m on

And I do my best to be trivial
Sometimes serious, but geeeeez, there’s enough serious crap on this planet to choke a horse already

And if I get too wordy, my hope is we all have that scroll feature on our devices

…and use it

No, I don’t read everything
I have a life

This place here is my diversion to that life

…and only a diversion

I try to make it a pleasant one

Same here. But I realize I don't have to be interested in every topic or thread to enjoy the forum, so it doesn't matter to me how many threads don't interest me. We're all different.

I do get a laugh whenever someone posts their dislike about a topic or post, however.

I read a lot of topics here but don't read all the posts in the topics anymore. I also use the ignore feature here at times to keep my experience more positive. The topics that don't interest me now I just don't read. :)

I read what interests me, which works out to about three
to four topics, a day. I disagree that serious discussion is not to be found, here. I enjoy serious discussions, at times, and they're definitely here, if you look for them.

I did not say that a serious discussion could not be found, in cause you were referring to what I wrote.

I no longer believe that this is a site for serious discussions"

I guess what you wrote could be taken a few ways: This site, in fact, has serious discussions, but it's not a site to have them on. OR There are no serious discussions on this site.

I took it as the latter.

I don't read every topic, usually just those that interest me.

We do have a few people who jump into a thread just to defend someone else or to stir the pot/grind an axe...they don't add anything of substance to the discussion. In fact, they usually have no clue as to what the topic is. Kinda pathetic.
