Are you suffering from pain all the time. Well, I am too so let's have a thread to vent it all. I have arthritis all over and the pain really depresses me at times. I am going on 62 and feel like 100. Sometimes it's better than others, though.

So, let us know what bothers you~

yep , I'm in my early 60's, I have a few issues , the pain that bothers me daily is the OA in my fingers, the lower back pain from herniated discs , and my displaced kneecap ..all of which I have either medication for or regular physiotherapy.

I get very frustrated with the pain, because I've always been a super active person... but you have to learn to deal with it the best you can!!..some days I can do lots other days I can't even drive.!!

Oh, Holly I sympathize with you; I get up and try to walk and it hurts in many places. I have had physical therapy too. They won't give me pain killers. I feel so old but am not that old.

Hips, back and knees, but that’s okay, I only use them to walk with.

Seriously though, I have tried opioids, extra strength Tylenol, cannot take ibuprofen because I take blood thinners. I am using a cane some now and it helps to have something to lean on.

Im to the point now where I’ve made up my mind to make the best of it and stay as positive as I can. I’ll be damned if I’ll ever let it get the best of me.....rant over....:sentimental:

Pappy,

Maybe it's time to start checking out the various mobility scooters.

My brother finally started using one to get around his neighborhood.

I see people using those scooters at my senior apartments, and to be honest, they look like fun. Some "walk" their dogs that way, and the dogs love running along side. .. also, they have baskets in the front for gathering their mail. Very multi-purpose vehicle.

my biggest pain is my legs--i have p.a.d-and they get so tired at times i have to set down--i get my work done but it takes longer---i also have allergies--my head feels i fell down and stepped on it

I wake up bent

Takes a few minutes to get to vertical

Once there, my movement is careful for awhile

I’m pretty fluid the rest the day

Not a gazelle....more bear like
Still, I move pretty good

But if I sit long, the process starts all over

I don’t sit long

yes, sitting for too long can be a royal pain in the you know what! :)

When I exercise or do yard work, it now takes a couple of days to recover.
I remember 15 years ago having a typical day: Get up, wash my car, vacuum, 30 minutes elliptical or Nordic Track Skier, 400 rounds at the shooting range, go out on a date,
more "exercise" after the date.....

Today: Pick ONE, then rest.

p.a.d is peiferal-(sp) artery disease --i had by pass done in both legs but it got blocked also--so thats why my legs hurt and i get tired so easy

Ever since I dislocated my knee about 12 years ago and tore through the meniscus my knees ache. At first it was just the bad knee but due to putting excessive pressure on the good leg to compensate they both bother me now. I have a very sensitive stomach and even tylonal affects it. I also have a small stomach ulcer so any meds used for pain is out of the question. I use a heating pad most every evening. The relief doesn't last but it feels good for a time.

I've been to physical therapy 3 times with no lasting results. Knee replacement won't help. The problem is with the tendons and ligaments.

I tell myself it could be a lot worse and just work through the pain. Sometimes it's hard because I'm a very active person.

Psoriatic arthritis here which is mostly contained to my left metatarsal area and injections have been helping up until the last one a few months ago. Am about to get my records to an orthopod who is a foot specialist.

But fibromyalgia that developed following a really nasty cold in 2011 is the worst. A fibro flare hurts skin to bone like the flu. I can only work part-time now at a flexible job because of it. In comparison, I missed a step at our camper in December, landed on my shoulder and had multiple fractures; only the first 20 minutes or so after the fall and when it had to be moved around for x-rays did the shoulder break surpass fibro pain. And the worst thing about fibro flares is that you don't know how long they'll last. It can be three days or three weeks and the not knowing takes its toll ...very much a trapped feeling.

The doctor prescribed Tramadol and Meloxicam for pain. If they work it's not to any great degree. They are cheap which may explain why their effect is questionable. I won't take OTC pain relievers. My mother ended up bleeding from both ends and had part of her stomach removed. Sometimes you just have to say frigate and power through.

Being in my late 80's I also have my share of aches and pains, so far,
Tylenol for arthritis helps. If the pain becomes worse I will look into
cannabis oils for relief.
I too use a walker with a seat and could not manage without it for carrying
groceries, cat's food, etc.

Yes, it does take time to recover. I have put limits on how much I do, too, due to the hurting.

Thanks for telling me what that meant. Sounds rough!

I hope the foot specialist can give you some relief somehow. Oh yes, falling is so hard. I did, too, a few years back and broke my ankle and foot. I didn't know fibro can happen after having a cold.

I only take OTC medicine when in more pain than usual due to those reasons. They also can cause liver damage.

Tylenol doesn't help me but glad it helps you. We are all different in what helps us.

... I didn't know fibro can happen after having a cold. ...

Any number of things can trigger fibro. I had it during menopause (28-32 years old) but it resolved once all the hormones tanked. Some people develop it post viral infection, and I've read of it developing post physical trauma. Some people get it not knowing the trigger. No matter how or why it occurs, it's No! fun.

hollydolly, are your fingers getting misshapen from the OA? Mine are starting to and I hate it. Also I have one finger that "sticks" and I have to straighten it out with the other hand.

Yes , horrible!! It breaks my heart to see my fingers like this..:(. it's the lower knuckles nearest my fingernails... both index fingers and my middle fingers . The lower affected joints of the fingers (near the nails) is called Heberdens' Nodes... mine are sore and swollen (like I've jammed my fingers in the door sometimes) , but compared to the horror of the pictures I've seen..nothing really... and I'm dreading mine being like those ''old people's hands''..., my other fingers are straight but I can already see the tiny swellings starting. Nothing I can do about it, just as there was nothing those poor people before me could do either... I told my husband I'm going to wear gloves, like the Queen, everywhere I go!!

OA swelling in the middle knuckles is called Bouchards' Nodes....

I am like Pappy. I can't take Aleve, heart doctor said not to. I do put on creams, and if I don't hurt that much, as much of you guys really do hurt. I know that when pain keeps your full attention, it wears you out and you just want it to go away now! I have tried drinking first thing in the morning, the applecider with the "mother" with lemon juice and honey. Plus, I am wearing a bracelet with magnets that is copper. One day I just closed my hands into a fist, an actual fist! My fingers actually closed all the way! Before, there just wasn't any way they were going to close all the way. My knee gets shots of something at the health and wellness doctor. Here pretty soon, I will get a rooster comb shot. He said my knee was fine, it was the ligaments around it. Those shots are helping a lot right now.

I have that apple cider with the "mother" in it. I should drink it more often as it's supposed to be good for several things. I'm glad the shots are helping. I am going to look into getting shots in my hip. I'm not supposed to take ibuprofen but have twice today...it helped so I'm glad but I'm going tell the doctor I took it and maybe then he'll refer me to someone for the shots.

I'm suffering from cramps and diarrhoea at the moment, because I've been eating brown bread. My insides are very sensitive and I have to watch everything I eat.
