How Much Was Your Electric Bill?

I hope I'm not being nosy here but just wondered how much everyone's electric bill was costing them the past month.

I live in a 4 room apt. and mine was 80.00! Before I opened the bill I guessed what it would be as I often do :LOL:and I thought it would be 95.00 with all the AC I used last month.

So, I guess it wasn't too bad at 80.00 but then compared to the month before it was 38.00.....yikes :sick:
 

We reside in a three bedroom home and run central air daily during the summer months. Our electric bill costs between $20 to $50, depending on how much I use the oven. I'm happy with that.
 
Mine was $39.47. But our electric company dropped its rate, I don't have air conditioning and turn off the water heater too. Winter is when the I get bills near $80, when the electric company increases its rate. Claims it's because of the bad weather. :rolleyes:
 
2 bedroom, 2 bath here too and mine was 86.00 which was good for me. TV stays on 24/7 and rarely use dryer and washer. Its a good price for me as I just had to have a new unit installed and was used to paying over 200 a month in the summer with the old unit. My electrician told me it was an energy efficient model and I believe him. With the heat and humidity here in Houston, its a good price.
 
Heat and hot water is included in my rent and I don't use AC.

The bill for cooking gas and electric usually runs $50.00 - $55.00/month.

Most of the monthly charge is for the service and delivery the actual cost of the energy is about $5.00/month.

It's still an amazing bargain when you consider all of the work, knowledge, and expense that people living off the grid have to go through to replace/duplicate it.

I have levelized billing so it doesn't change much from month to month. The electric is running 83 bucks a month and the gas which the hot water heater and furnace run on is running 70 bucks a month. So that's $153 bucks a month. Our house is a little over 2000 square feet and was built in 1960. And the A/C unit is 15 years old. So it's efficiency probably isn't as high as a new one would be. But I'm not going to put out 4 grand for a new 5 ton unit until something goes wrong with it. I mean I'll fix something minor like replacing a capacitor, but if it starts to leak freon then I'll bite the bullet and get a new one because it uses the old kind of freon. I don't do much to conserve on heat and air. I like to be warm in the winter and cool in the summer. But I have replaced most of the light bulbs with LED bulbs.

I switched via a comparison site this year, they quoted
me £41 per month till July 2020, which was have that
my previous supplier wanted, this is for both gas and
electricity.

Imagine my surprise when two months later they wanted
to up my bill by £25 per month, I did some sums and then
decided that they had started me too low and I upped it
to £55 per month, as I had agreed a tariff of £41 maybe I
should have argued the case.

I am still thinking about it.

My bill includes electric, trash pick up, waste water, water, road usage and maintenance. It's averaged at $223/mo. Gas averages at $43/mo. I'm happy with those rates.
 
Apartment living ... with A/C set to 69 degrees around the clock. Last year my electric bill monthly was $32, the whole year long. (new service special)
I didn't bother to check out rates elsewhere when the year was up, and this year I'm paying for that! ... My July bill was $108.
 
Our house is total electric, also...about 2400 sq.ft. The monthly electric bill averages out to around $150 a month. We had to get a new AC a couple of years ago, and it is more efficient than the old one was, and that helped in the Summer. Our Winter electric bill was huge, the first year we moved here....almost $350 a month....so I bought a big outdoor wood furnace...with all this heavy forest, I have an endless supply of trees....and using that in the Winter cuts the heating bill in half, or more....plus the exercise of harvesting several dead/damaged trees each year is a good workout.
 
Our bill has run around $45 dollars in the summer. Drops off in the winter when "mr wood stove" takes over. :) Not bad when you consider our usage. Pool runs, washer, and sometimes the dryer, 3 freezers plus the fridge, electric stove and wife has been canning this year, and my workshop. Like Judycat, we turn off the hot water heater. Our house is around 1200 sq.ft. but, when I built it, I made thick walls (9") and lots of insulation. very rarely do I need the a/c.

Sounds very reasonable to me.
 
I may be moving to the USA sometime soon.. your fuel bills are sooooo low... :D

@Mike , who is your new provider?..we used to have both Gas & elec with British Gas..but they got ridiculous and we changed to a lower rate.. however, not as low as yours... :oops:
 
In reading over these bill postings, I must ask: Do your bills include water, waste water, trash pick up, and road usage/maintenance? My electric bill, at $223, is all of those, rolled into one. I especially was amazed that a five bedroom house, with a pool, in my neighboring town of Houston, could possibly have such a low bill. Before we drained and covered our 42x24 inground pool, our monthly bill, in the summer, made it to $340, and that was twenty years ago!
