Just Saw Some Crazy Prices For Electric Toothbrushes

I was at Walmart waiting for my prescription and wandered around and found electric toothbrushes. Four were priced at $189 one for $199 and downward from there on the others with the lowest price being $39. So what do these electronic marvels do for that money? They brush your teeth!

Amazon has much better prices but whatever the cost, it is worth every penny. My Oral-B charge base is over 15 years old and I replace the head for about $5 every 4 to 5 months.

Some of them can do more than just brushing your teeth. For example, a few years ago my dentist told me I was brushing my teeth too hard. Because of this, the enamel on my teeth was getting thin and I needed to stop. I read somewhere about some electric toothbrushes that had a feature that would help with this. I can't remember just exactly what it is called but it would release pressure on my teeth if I was putting too much on them. I decided to purchase one and give it a try but I didn't pay that much for it. I haven't had a dentist to tell me that since then and I have changed dentist, so hopefully it is helping.

I've got an electric toothbrush that is well over 20 years old....it has the "Braun" brand on the body....years before the name switched to Oral B. It is still working great....I just replace the rotating brush head every couple of months. Most dentists seem to agree that these rotating brush heads do the best job of keeping the teeth in good shape....At my age, I still have most of my teeth, so it seems to be working.

I bought a cheap rechargeable electric toothbrush years ago for $20+, I use it sometimes and sometimes I use the regular brush. I just change the head when needed, the dentist gave me the last one instead of a free toothbrush on my last visit. I agree with Don, and the dentist said the same thing, the rotating heads are the best.

Agree! I've been using them for a good 15 years and could never go back to a regular brush.

I use the big "Dual Clean" heads. Apparently Wally's doesn't carry them anymore so I've been getting them from Amz -- Three for $16.

The Oral B brush heads are ridiculously priced in the stores. I've been buying"compatible" heads on EBAY for about $1 per head....and they work just as well as the "branded" brushes. In all likelihood, all of the various brands are made in China...the only difference is the price a person is willing to pay for the Name and Packaging.

I wonder if mine are dishwasher safe??

We do the same thing Don. Store prices are out of sight. Ebay brushes work just fine. Have also bought them on Wish.
