Love the smell of magnolia blooms

My poor magnolia bush. I bought it a few months back. It bloomed a little and now the leaves are turning brown. It has good drainage. I used soil with lots of peat. I fertilized with magnolia fertilizer. I water it every other day and it gets about 3-4 hours of sun a day. It is about 100 degrees a day here in Texas. Any ideas? I love the smell of magnolia blooms.

If you bought it a few months back then I would call them to help you with a solution or an exchange. The may have sold you one that has a disease.

Is it planted too close to the brick wall? Those trees grow to be gigantic and can crack the foundation of your house if planted too close.

I'm sorry about your magnolia bush Kim, I have a black thumb so I have no advice to offer. :( I'm not even sure I've ever smelled the scent of magnolia. But, this old song popped into my head, so I had to post it.

Seems the intense summer heat that we are dealing with in Texas is doing a number on everything in the ground ...
Except for Bamboo plants !!! ...cannot kill the stuff. :)
