Labels on prescription bottles.

Those prescription bottles are handy for storing small items such as buttons, pins, screws, bolts, etc.

To take the label off. Some glues are different than others.

Previously I would put them in the freezer and the labels would peel right off easily.

They must have changed the glue on the labels at my pharmacy.

Now what I do is fill the bottle nearly full with water and leaving the cap off put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. The glue softens and the label peels right off easily.

Caution use oven mitts and dump the water first. Then peel.

I keep one in the glove compartment filled with quarters for parking meters, tolls and maybe an emergency ice cream cone.

They also make a good trap for fruit flies.
Drill a hole or heat up a needle and make a small hole in the cap.
Put a little wine, beer, or vinegar in the bottle.
The flies go in and drown.

There's nowhere to recycle them here. I tried. They will dispose of outdated medicine.
I have a lot of them used for small screws, etc.

I admit that I have to use a magnifying glass for the really small print.

It also annoys me that so much personal information is printed on the labels.

I always remove the label before tossing the container in the recycling bin.

It seems like it would be better for the environment and cheaper for all concerned to replace the plastic bottles with little plastic zip-lock bags.

I think the reason for the push down type of bottles they use for prescription medicines is to make them child tamper proof. It might even be a federal regulation. Zip-lock bags are not as safe. There are all kinds of ways to recycle the plastic bottles. I also use them to sprout cuttings. They are great because you can see when the roots develop.

Tide laundry pods come in a child-resistant/tamperproof zip lock bag that requires the user to push down and slide the zipper mechanism. I won't tell you how many tries it took before I finally figured it out.

I have a gadget that you set the bottle in and it magnifies the letters. Can’t remember where I got it. Probably Amazon.

After I had a small bottle of eye drops fall from my bedside table and roll under the bed, making me get down on my knees (ouch ouch!) and dig under the bed until I finally got my hands on the little bottle, I found another use for the medicine bottles. I now put my little bottle of eye drops in one and put on the cap. Now it doesn't roll out of reach. oh...could someone help me off the floor please??

I practice getting up off the floor in case I fall.
Roll over on my stomach. Bring up one knee. Hand down and Push up and bring the other knee up.
Then rise slowly. It helps if there is something close to grab on to.

I like the bottles. I keep a sharpie close by to mark out the info, rx#, my name, doctor name and any other info. After marking out the info I put my quarters in them. Keep a couple in car in case I want to splurge and get a sandwich or drink while I am out and about.

I have an app on my cell phone that is a magnifier. Works great.
