2 Female Shoplifter Beat-Up Worker

In the main street where I live two female thugs, the
only way I can describe them, tried to leave a Health
Supplement store.

A store worker stood in front of the doors to stop them
from escaping, they beat her so violently that the doors
were smashed, the thieves escaped through the broken
glass of the doors and nobody tried to stop them!

The weird thing about the attack on this store , is that it's just a vitamin supplement chain store.... not somewhere you'd expect to be attacked .. but on further thought, there's every chance I suppose that they're stealing supplements to sell on, purporting to be harder drugs!!

Shameful!

"The new prime minister’s plan to strengthen the UK’s police force will begin in a matter of weeks. During Boris Johnson’s first speech as the country’s new leader, he vowed to recruit an extra 20,000 police officers to ‘make our streets safer’. The recruitment drive will begin in September and the PM wants it completed over the next three years. ‘As I said on the steps of Downing Street this week, my job as Prime Minister is to make our streets safer,’ Mr Johnson said. ‘People want to see more officers in their neighbourhoods, protecting the public and cutting crime. ‘I promised 20,000 extra officers and that recruitment will now start in earnest.’

From what I understand as the rules of shoplifting ( Like I know), when cornered -fight like hell. This is a tactic shoplifters use on this side of the Atlantic. The idea is to incapacitate the employee so they can escape. The attacks can be quite vicious. Also, most stores have a policy of not physically retraining shoplifters, because replacing stolen goods is way cheaper than paying for empoyees' hospital bills.

Something I'll never understand:
Store employees--usually working for minimum wage--wanting to play "Cop" & risking their lives to stop shoplifters....to prevent theft of merchandise they don't even own. Really STUPID.

If you want to fight crime, apply for a job as a police officer; then you get the training & equipment to deal with criminals.

RadishRose, this number is the number of officers lost through
not replacing them when they retired or left since 2010.

Hopefully the number will be higher, though they say that it takes
at least 3 years to fully train a policeman.

No different here in the US. Law is the same joke.

So many LEOs are retiring early, quitting because of the stress and new target. And nobody is wanting to fill their positions. Can't find new recruits.
Now in many states they are hiring felons to replace them.

Shameful!

Boris will find that almost impossible..20,000 new police officers in tne next 3 years?.. and the vast majority of police stations closed around the country in recent years due to govt cuts!!..where would he put all these new cops?.. (don't answer RR, don't want to get into trouble for discussing politics)

Remember this one?

Update.

The two 17 year olds were captured by the police
and charged, they went to court and pleaded guilty,
they will be sentenced at a later date, (I wonder why
our courts do this), the story was in our local paper.
Story Here.

This is so outrageous.
A cashier at Walgreens told me people openly steal things and walk out - they even steal those small shopping baskets, and employees aren't allowed to do anything.

However, some stores handle things differently. 😈

Psychiatric reports I suspect, Mike!!..they'll probably get a tap on the hand... Our justice system is a joke more often than not!
Here in theU.S., there are crimes that when committed, the defendant can be sentenced immediately after the guilty verdict is read. That’s because the sentencing is out of the judge’s hands, or what we call “mandatory sentence.”

If the crime is left up to the judge to impose sentencing, then in most cases, sentencing is scheduled at a later date. This allows the judge to not only perform background checks, but also to apply a fair sentence as prescribed by using DOJ Guidelines. It is not uncommon for judges to use median sentences to appease both sides.

I agree, Holly, I think sentences in the U.K. have a lot to be desired. There are many times in this country that judges go to extremes and then there are times when sentences haven’t gone far enough. I have also seen some very inconsistent sentences among judges, which have really upset me at times.

That’s because law enforcement is not supported by the courts and are targets and their hands are tied When we get tougher judges and tougher politicians we will have the means to support our law enforcement properly and throw the bad guys where they belong. Until then This will continue to happen.

One more thing it won’t matter if there are 1 million police on the street if the laws aren’t changed first to be tough on crime and judges tough enough to administer the law and throw the bad guys in jail.

I agree, but we can't help what our instincts tell us to do. If someone grabs a watch out of your hand, what would be your first reaction? To grab it back, probably. After that, you realize what you just did, so now you have put yourself into a position to not only get the watch back, but to win the confrontation at all costs.

Just like when you were in school and someone took your cap and won't give it back. You probably really don't care about the cap, but someone took something that belongs to you, so now you will do whatever you have to, so that you may get it back.

Big difference. A store employee doesn't own the property that's stolen, so he's risking his life to protect property that isn't his. My watch/cap/etc. is mine.

I am not disagreeing with you, my point is that it’s human nature, or instinct, (probably more for men than women), to retaliate when someone grabs something out of your hand without first asking.

Bank managers tell their tellers all the time that if they are held up to just hand over the money. It’s insured. There have been many instances where convenience and liquor stores have been robbed and employees will intervene and attempt to be a hero by overtaking the culprit. That’s very risky and mostly ends up bad. But, it’s instinct to protect and to keep what we believe to be our’s.

There was a holdup of a convenience store in Upper Marion Township, which is just outside of Philadelphia a few years back and the female clerk was ordered to open the register and hand over the money. With her right hand, it appeared that she was doing as instructed. With her left hand, she was reaching under the counter for the .38 that the owner kept for ‘his’ protection. The employees were instructed not to defy the robber’s orders. As she pulled the gun up from under the counter, the robber fired one shot striking her in the right shoulder and then he fled out the door. Lady Luck was shining down on her that day.
