I've had several motorcycles through the years but I sold my last Honda Goldwing, that I bought new in 1995, a few years ago and now I really miss having a motorcycle......I ran getting another one by mama / "The Boss" and she said, "Ain't No Way Jose !".

Anyone else have or have had a motorcycle ?

Here's a picture just like the black '95' Goldwing I had.1995 goldwing.jpg1995 goldwing.jpg

I started out with an old BSA I found in a chicken coop. Took it home, spent two weeks cleaning it up and it rode like a million bucks. Everything on wrong side though. Next, a Yamaha 750 full cowl and then I wised up and got my Harley. The yellow one. On our way to Vermont.IMG_5461.jpg

I have owned Eight, which includes 7 Cycles and a Motorbike.

Sold my last one after turning 70...just too risky anymore.

The last motorcycle I had was a 1980 Kawasaki KZ900. I darn near was killed a few times because cars never looked out for cycles. Some still don't. Now, my state has a no helmet law and I wouldn't even consider not wearing one, even though depending on the situation, chances of survival are still slim with or w/o a helmet. I was coming back from a long ride on a Sunday and I was on the interstate. I started to pass an 18-wheeler and just as I got about two-thirds of the way out and into the passing lane, a BMW convertible with 2 couples in it came up past me and actually had to go almost up against the median rail to avoid hitting me. I had nightmares that night and a few weeks later, I put the bike up for sale. My son has a Harley that I still take out maybe twice a summer just to keep familiar with the bike.

Got rid of my last BNW the year before last at the age of 77 when the arthritis in my thumbs meant it was getting difficult to use the clutch.

I started off in 1956, when there were no upper speed limits in the UK and it was cable operated drum brakes. There always was something very satisfying about passing the cops at 90 and changing into top gear!

I managed to keep it rubber side down except on three occasions, well two really because the other time I was still upright - I just happened to be jammed solid in a drainage channel!

I've been riding most of my adult life. It started when my cousin that lived on a farm got a dirt bike.

I had a KZ650 that I really liked and did my first 3 color paint job on it - I actually painted it 3 times because I didn't like how the first 3 colors looked together. I put a turbo on it and blew the engine up in short order. I replaced it with a GPz750 that I liked almost as much. It was sure great to have electronic ignition instead of having to dry off the points if I rode in the rain very far. And it wheelied better than the KZ. I got really good at synching carbs on them. I rode those bikes up and down the midwest; WI, FL, TX and pretty much everywhere between. I even picked up a hitchhiker once, just to see if he'd get on (he DID).

I went thru quite a few bikes after that, rather quickly too. I'd list them but I don't remember them all. I had a young family then so couldn't afford what I really wanted (Honda Sabre V65).

I was in the Air Force at that time, and they had me take the M/C safety class every couple years. A bit boring after the 3rd time, so I started helping the really new riders.

I caught a deal on '74 Triumph Trident that someone couldn't get running. It only has kick start and someone took the chokes off two of the carbs. I rebuilt the engine (with my father) while shopping for the carb parts. The part that splits the choke cable to the three carbs was impossible to find - but that was before the internet. The bike still doesn't have it. I've still got the bike, but it hasn't run in many years.

After my divorce and most of the kids were thru school, I got a Yamaha Seca 750. Then I got a Triumph Sprint 955 (I was thrilled that they made another 3 cyl engine!). It was my first bike that I could wheelie just by twisting the throttle (in most gears) - a fun challenge. I took a refresher safety course on it. The instructor said I had to use more than one finger on the front brake. I think he felt he had to give me 'some' instruction. I used two and locked up the wheel. He said I could go back to one finger. I really liked the sprint (esp. the engine) but I found I was riding illegally just to have 'fun'. Like 145 mph...

So I traded it in on a BMW K1200RS - my first bike with hard saddlebags. It is made for the highway (the AutoBahn actually). It'll go all day, and it wants to go 85mph (or faster). I rode it over 700 miles in one day, just to see if I could do it (I knew the bike could). But I'm kinda a small guy, which makes it a big bike for me. Getting in and out of parking spots could be challenging. I actually dropped it on the Tail of the Dragon the first year I had it.

So I got a Ninja 650 - it should be called a KZ650. I really like it and can ride it all day, virtually non-stop. I have a few different soft bags for it. I have 40K miles on it. I was out all day last sunday with some buddies and did 375 miles - almost no highway. A lot of spirited riding; I wore out my rear brakes.

I guess I should confess that I'm a youngin on this site at 59. I semi-retired (got a part time job) when I got laid off a few months ago.

But women (my age) don't want to ride on a Ninja (I'm single), and I missed the hard saddlebags. so I've also got a VStar 950. It's great for commuting, running errands and going to fairs, festivals and similar things. And giving rides, as long as they're not to far. It just isn't comfortable for hours at a time.

I'm kinda shopping for a new bike - I'd luv to find one that does everything for me, as I expect it will be my last bike. I've got a computer file of the places and events I'd like to ride to; starting with the Air Force museum in Dayton then really big fireworks somewhere, back to the Ozarks and Smokies...

I've owned five bikes, a Harley, three Hondas, and a Kawasaki, had one around most my adult life. Enjoyed the Kawasaki most of all, maybe because I rode it more. I did see last week the prettiest, best sounding little Suzuki. An engineer rode over to my sons on it. I went out and looked it over. I wanted to go down and buy another town bike just like it.

I had a Honda CX500 for several years when we lived in the city...It was a real nice water cooled engine motorcycle. I had some good rides on that cycle, but I had several close calls from motorists who weren't paying attention, and I finally sold it before I got creamed. Out here in the boondocks, a lot of people own Harleys, and on weekends its pretty common to see them riding around the area in fairly large groups. I've thought about joining in, but at my age, I doubt that I would still have the skills and reactions to do so safely.

I've heard of a town car, but never a town bike. What is that??

I've owned a Honda, 2 Triumphs, a Kawasaki, 2 Suzukis, and a Mustang Replica. The Whizzer was a Motorized Bicycle, not a Motorcycle.

I have never owned or even ridden a Davidson, the big V-Twins that are popularly known as Harleys.

My stylist and her boy friend each weekend bike to far away places. I live in Northeastern PA, and they road to Vermont. They used all back roads. I think she said the trip was 12 straight hours each way. This week end they are going to Erie, PA, at least 350 miles, again all back roads, adding to the milage .

My first bike was a Suzuki 400 which I rode half way across Canada. My next bike was a Kawasaki Ninja which I loved but my husband made me get rid of because ‘he’ was scared and stupid me gave it away to a friend of mine.

It was one of the stupidest things I’ve ever done and regret it to this day. I miss biking so much and wish I still had one.

Bought my first bike in 1956 and got rid of my last only three years ago, when my wrist got so bad that I couldn't operate the clutch, though people did used to stare when I used to park in a bay for the disabled and unstrap two wailing sticks!

My wife did so many miles with me that in later years I would frequently feel the bike tip into a corner slightly before I made a move myself (often on a better line than mine!).

When I started there was no UK national limit. Nothing quite like passing the cops at 90 and changing to a higher gear!

As a kid growing up in the Arizona desert I rode an off-road bike called a Tote Goat. Went pert near anywhere off the hard road.

In college I moved up to a dirt bike--Kawasaki 175 cc.

In my 40's I got a real motorcycle. Loved that cycle. I called it my "stealth machine" 'cause it was so quiet I could sneak up on folks.

In California, the State Troopers had just stopped using them for their patrol. I believe that more than once I was mistaken for one of them!

A bike too small to ride comfortably on the highway, yet nible enough to skoot about town with enough horses to make you feel the thrill of the road. Or something like that. Mine was a 457cc.

Very nice bikes travellinMan. Your last bike looked like my Ninja in style and shape. I wish I still had it but my man is glad it’s gone. He thinks I drove it too fast which I did. That was part of the fun though. Lol

I ran by BMW up to 110 MPH once, but made the mistake of looking down at the pavement. Real estate was goin' by way too fast.

Like wise, my wife was worried about my health so the bike went.
