Now That Everyone Delivers I have A Concern

Fast food joints now deliver but I ask how delicious is a burger & fries for example after they sit in a delivery car for however long it takes to get to the home? I assume they are in some kind of container but burgers & fries go south fast it if you let them set as little as 5 minutes. Even pizza looses some of their charm in deliveries. Above all, if one has to have burgers delivered they need to keep hot dogs or burritos in the freezer.

I agree totally. If I want fast food delivered I'll send someone from home out to get it and bring it back. That's rare but it takes less than half an hour to get there and back with a burger or pizza.

Only time I have called for delivery is Pizza. I have one local place that makes great pizza. Always arrives hot and fresh.
I have found that a craving for Taco Bell, or McDonald's can wait until I am out.

Well, I won't spoil anyone's appetite about much-worse things than freshness about food deliveries. A news station videotaped what delivery people do to food.

In my area the big-name fast food is delivered by UberEats or DoorDash and the various fees involved would discourage me from ordering unless I was a shut-in desperate for a meal.

I agree with the OP that it's better to keep some treats on hand for those nights when only fast food will do.

Not long ago, I was at an area BBQ place, small, locally owned, and great. Anyway, when I pulled up there was a person standing outside her car, looking confused. Turns out she was from one of the food delivery places (do not remember which) and she, seriously, could not find the place she was standing in front of. Turns out, it was not her fault, it was listed as "snack shack" or some oddball name that was NOT the name of the restaurant.
You have to wonder how often THIS happens, especially when the restaurant is not one of the chains.

In my old age I have become more and more suspicious. The only thing I used to have delivered occasionally was pizza. Now I'm teaching myself to make my own. I just made my second one Sunday night. Pillsbury pizza dough, homemade marinara sauce, mozzarella, strips of green pepper and onion and mushrooms and sliced black olives, and a sprinkling of romano grated cheese. It was great! The next step is learning how to make my own pizza dough.

I used to do this, and cannot remember exact details, but it was quite simple. I think it only needed 3 ingredients, and was easy to make for just one pizza, either round if you get a pan for it (grocery store might have them)
Or you can just pull it into a rectangle, easily as well. Then, there's no preservatives or other mystery ingredients. :)

Yes, I decided to go one step further and make my own dough after I read all those unpronounceble(spell?) ingredients listed on the pizza dough container.

My bakery now sells the pizza dough, uncooked of course.

Just roll it out and add the ingredients and then bake it.

These days you can purchase some great gluten free pizzas in the freezer section of most upscale large chain grocery stores. The selection now is amazing.
