Handicapped sign

I haven't needed a handicapped placard yet for parking, as I'm still able to walk and have no physical handicaps. But, if circumstances change, I'll be thankful to be able to use one of those.

I was recently parking in a lot of a park where I walk my dog. Noticed before I left my car that a young couple pulled into a handicap spot and walked into the park quickly with no problems. They did have a tag hanging on the rear view mirror, but I can only assume it was for the owner of the car or a relative. The lot was empty except for our two cars, so all spots were available.

I'm not one to confront people about how they park, there are plenty of park rangers, store security or other officials such as the police to act on such violations. It does bug me though, I've never parked in a handicap spot, and don't intend to unless I need one and have the permits to use one.

I think the shooter was stupid to confront the girlfriend, but it was even more stupid for Mr. Thug to assault him. In a way, they both got what they asked for. But, the shooter is better off than the thug. He'll be released early like all inmates are & Mr. Thug will still be dead.

I would take death over prison any day.

With that said, has anyone ever seen a LEO give a ticket at a Handicap Parking sign??
I didn't actually see the officer but I got the ticket he left on my windshield. I had taken my mother to the store and forgot to hang the placard. Cost about $250. It's hard to find a handicap spot around the stores here. And I think Walmart has more "free grocery pickup" spots than they do handicap spots. I've had to drop my mother/father off at the front of the store, park the car and then rush to the store before one of them would wander away.

Now that it's just me and daddy, it scares me to drop him at the door because his alzheimer's is getting worse and he will definitely wander off. But with the heat and humidity here he doesn't need to be walking across a hot parking lot either.

The doctor gave me the letter to get the placards and I got them at DMV. They were actually pretty inexpensive as I remember...$4 or so? I got one for each car so I don't have to remember to swap them out.

WOW, that hurts! Could you offer proof that you had the placard, just forgot to hang it up?

Sure but it was easier to just pay the ticket than spend 2-3 hours to try to clear it up. If it would have affected my car insurance then it would have been worth it, but not for illegal parking ticket that I could pay online. At the time I was caregiver for my sister who had cancer, my mother who had cancer, and my father with alzheimer's. Had to chose my battles I guess.
