I haven't needed a handicapped placard yet for parking, as I'm still able to walk and have no physical handicaps. But, if circumstances change, I'll be thankful to be able to use one of those.
I was recently parking in a lot of a park where I walk my dog. Noticed before I left my car that a young couple pulled into a handicap spot and walked into the park quickly with no problems. They did have a tag hanging on the rear view mirror, but I can only assume it was for the owner of the car or a relative. The lot was empty except for our two cars, so all spots were available.
I'm not one to confront people about how they park, there are plenty of park rangers, store security or other officials such as the police to act on such violations. It does bug me though, I've never parked in a handicap spot, and don't intend to unless I need one and have the permits to use one.
