Spend one hour with someone from the past?

Maya Angelou to gain her wisdom. I so admire her. I wish I could have met and sat down and talk with her. Older mature adults has soooo much wisdom. Young adults can learn a LOT from their elders. My daughter is 27 and I always tell her she has an old soul. She is very mature for her age. I had her at the age of 32. She is a beautiful young lady inside and out. I pass on my wisdom to her.

I would be my mother, hands down. Besides being my mother, she was my best friend and I still miss her every day. And my father. He was a good father, and there every day, but after his death I realized I really didn't know much about him. He was one of those men who didn't say much unless it applied to something that was going on at that moment. I loved him, and I knew he loved me, but I really didn't know much about the real "him."

When I flew for Air Wisconsin, way back in the early part of my career, I had to take a flight from Columbus to Buffalo. Before I left Columbus, the latest weather report showed snow beginning to fall in Buffalo with several inches expected. I wanted to get there ASAP, so I asked the ATC to reroute me to a quicker route if possible. He notified me “Not Possible.”

At about 45 miles from the airport, we began our final decent. The Buffalo tower tells me that no runways were clear and asked me where I wanted to divert? I asked what was my choices. He says Hartford, Cleveland or NYC. I take Hartford. We landed with no problem with a plane full of very unhappy passengers.

As much as I loved my wonderful mother who raised me, I think it would be my birthmother. She died so young. My parents (actually my grand uncle and aunt) kept the truth from me until I was 16. I had been told she was my cousin. She was so lovely and so fun. I love and miss her dearly.
