Squatting Dog mention boondocking, maybe that would be an option?

Heck yeah. We decked out the motor home specifically for boondocking. 560 watts of solar up top, extra battery bank, extenda-stay propane adapter, 2000 watt inverter, extra large holding tanks... we're ready. :) (y)

Yep me too..Ronni. I find that the voices come as a complete surprise, and also often I find that those who seem to be the most outgoing or conversely the quietest online can surprise me by being the complete opposite. I believe that sometimes the internet gives a voice to people who are introverts in public, so it's always a surprise to expect to find those that are the most chatty online are the wallflowers at a meet.. or those who seemed very nice are sometimes grumpy or vice versa...
I agree. With my extroverted personality, I have to get a feel of the crowd . But I will bring my fun self.

There's more to this get together stuff than I imagined, but it would still be a hoot. Think of it as an older version of a Burning Man gathering.
The Geezer Guy Gathering.....

How many members went to Woodstock?
Still fuss at my Mother over this.... She wouldnt let me go with my older cousins.... was only 30 miles away..

Boondocking not a problem for us at all.... Will be heading towards Tallahassee in the near future....
And have always wanted to go to Texas...

I'm sure GL would meet them midway. But from Texas to mid-Florida it's about 1096 miles and from NY to FL it's about 1154 miles.
I'd be willing to travel and have a place in Missouri as well.

I'm pretty far south in Florida, last exit on 75 before you hit the swamps. lol

If we move back to the cabin, y'all could come there
Plenty of room for RVs and such
Sweetest water to ever touch lips
Jus' no electricity

If I could afford the trip, I would love to visit Egypt. OMG, the Pyramids, sailing down the Nile, seeing all those temples and buildings that are thousands of years old. Plus even the Egypt of today is a fascinating place to visit.
Ain't gots no money, though.
So glad we went to Egypt in the late 90's. You are right...no place in the world like it. Lets face it, the Great Pyramid of Giza is the only surviving wonder of the ancient world and it doesn't disappoint you! East meets west in Cairo.
We had a marvelous time in both the upper and lower regions of the Nile.

Highly advise it. To be inside the Great Pyramid and visit its 3 chambers, "the pit, the Queen's chamber and the King's chamber at the very top of the pyramid" was incredible. Hub is an engineer and was blown away at the technology they used to forge the granite stones together so tightly together. Aswan and the Karnak Temple were the icing on the cakes!

Highly recommend it if you ever get the chance to go!

Y’know, if we have a few members who’d travel to a get together if there was room to park a motor home, we might want to think about that.
I mean @Liberty talked about having lots of land, so at least a bunch of folks could park their motor homes there. Of course there wouldn’t be hookups so the problem of at least having somewhere to shower and use a restroom would have to be solved but depending on the time of year the Motorhomes could at least be used for sleeping.

Er....how many bathrooms d’you have, @Liberty? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‰
Well, lets see...we've got 2 in the Apt. 1 in the garage, and 4 in the house...that makes 7, right?
Curious...what do you need for "hook ups"...we got lots of extension cords too...lol. My hub is an electrical engineer...and a fire commissioner...lol.

Sounds nice and fun but I don't travel. I'll stick with our online chats.šŸ˜‰
Know what you mean Ruthanne. It is a "comfort zone". We feel we do need to push that comfort zone envelope you know...to stay in the current mental world I mean. We've found it does help us to "jump out of the circle" from time to time...lol.

I think there's something that runs in my father's side of the family. His brother and my cousin of dad's sister had/have such severe agoraphobia and couldn't/can't even leave their residences. I may have a mild case. Although I am not hysterical, when I do go out, all I can think of is getting what I have to do over with and get back home. I think this leads to haste, confusion and misplaced items. I tend to blank out certain things - twice I left my purse in stores in my anxiousness of getting out of them and sometimes mislay mail.

I commiserate. I'm a semi-recluse and avoid going places. When I have to do errands I have a very mild case of anxiety (my heart races and I feel faint) but once in the car I'm okay. But, when I get back home, especially after grocery shopping, I feel exhausted and so glad to be home.

Exactly how I feel. Most woman enjoy shopping. To me it's an ordeal.

For some reason, the thread title made me think of a Barbara Streisand song.
