Who has control of the remote?

Before DH retired, he traveled on business. When he was gone, I got the remote. At last! The irony, of course, was that I hardly watched any TV because we taped most of the stuff we watched, and I knew when he got back I'd just have to watch it again. So I watched other stuff, or not at all. I did a lot of reading. Fast forward to retirement, and I almost never have control of the remote. And now we have streaming services -- Netflix, Acorn, Amazon Prime -- and even more remotes. One for the Roku TV, one for Dish, one for the freaking sound bar. And I almost never get to touch them. LOL! My daughter asked me the other day to find something on TV and I said, "I don't know how. Your father won't let me touch the remote." A slight exaggeration, but not much! She just rolls her eyes.

So the last couple days I have been watching "The Crown" (very good, BTW) while DH does other things, and have actually had a remote in my possession. Woohoo! Tonight I finished watching an episode, and DH had stopped playing his computer game and joined me. When it was over, I got up and went to the kitchen for some water, came back and the remote was gone, snatched up by DH, reclaiming his property! Apparently, my time was up!

Who controls the remote in your household? (I am reminded of an old, old TV show called "Outer Limits," sort of a knock-off of "Twilight Zone." It started out, "We control the horizontal, we control the vertical...".

Neither of us, just depends whose watching tv first.. if he doesn't like what I'm watching then he'll go in another room and watch TV there, but in reality he watches very little TV..

My husband controls the remotes, I'm remote challenged. :D We only have cable on one TV, and that's in the bedroom. He watches that TV the most and also watches his Netflix DVDs there, soon he will have to switch to streaming because we suspect the DVD Netflix service will be obsolete in a year or so. I will force myself to get familiar with the remotes if I really have to some day, but so far I'm good with him in control. If he's out somewhere and I want to watch something on cable, I know enough to find my channels.

Hubby is a night owl due to his work shift. Therefore, I get the remote at night when I go to bed. If he does not have to work overnight, by the time he gets to bed, I may be sleep and the tv has to be turned down. He do not change the channel nor turn the tv up. In the morning when I come downstairs... I come down a few hours before he does.. I get the remote. However, I read before I turn the tv on. But I get the remote..watch a few shows after reading. After he come downstairs we watch one of our favorite Soap Operas... After that, he gets the remote. If I want to watch my other soap opera, I go upstairs.. it works out pretty well. Some nights we have a few shows we watch together that we enjoy... we also watch a good movie on Netflix sometimes.

We've gotten into the habit lately of watching some stand-up comedians before bedtime. If they're not funny we move on to someone else. Nothing like having a few laughs with your loved one before the lights go out.

Get another cable box.Splitter also. Service two tv's. That's what I have. No extra charge from my provider. They gave another remote and box when they switched to digital from analog.

'Tween other shows?.......the remote sits on the monitor stand between our lay-z-boys
We give each other the corner's of our eyes...and go for it
